Celebrating International Women's Day 2017 by marking the achievements of women in theatre.

For this year's International Women's Day (Wednesday 8 March) we are highlighting the accomplishments of women at the RSC, and asking them to name women who have influenced them. We'll be sharing their pictures and quotes on our social media throughout the day.

We're also holding an International Women's Day event of readings of inspiring women's writing in The Other Place.

International Women’s Day is an opportunity to celebrate women’s achievements by applauding social, economic, cultural and political female role models. This year's theme is #BeBoldForChange, encouraging people across the world to take action to help improve gender equality.

Our Deputy Artistic Director Erica Whyman and Executive Director Catherine Mallyon

Our International Women's Day event features readings of inspiring women’s writing, read by RSC staff and acting company, Shakespeare's Birthplace Trust staff and local poets. The event is free and unticketed. It starts at 5.30pm at The Other Place on Wednesday, for around 40 minutes. Everyone is welcome, but we recommend that young people should be aged 16 and above.
