We have been preparing a new display to show different kinds of costume-making skills.

The costumes and information board in the first floor foyer of the Royal Shakespeare Theatre shows examples of men’s and ladies’ costume making, millinery, armour and costume painting and effects. The idea is to highlight the range of skills that our craftspeople use to create the costumes that appear on our stages.

The display also includes the stunning yellow dress created for the Stitch In Time Campaign trailer worn by actor Josette Simon (currently playing Cleopatra at the Barbican).

Stitch In Time is a fundraising campaign to support the restoration and redevelopment of our Costume Workshop, helping us continue to create stunning costumes for audiences around the world to enjoy.
