Original short films created in lockdown.

Each week we’re releasing  a new short film written by Assistant Director Rosie Jones, inspired by characters and stories from Shakespeare’s plays and filmed in lockdown.

The Tale of Miss Bear Winters

Inspired by Shakespeare's infamous stage direction in The Winter's Tale: 'Exit pursued by a bear'. Will Miss Winters spend the rest of her life behind bars?

Which Boxers?

Inspired by Shakespeare's The Merchant of Venice. Bicycle fanatic Prince Morocco has to guess which casket in which he can find a likeness (selfie) of 'fair Portia'. If he gets it right, he will marry her. If he gets it wrong, he goes away with nothing.

The Wedding of Phoebe and Silvius

Inspired by As You Like It - Maid of Honour, Audrey, gives an unconventional speech at her best friend's wedding.

Midsummer Festival films

We joined arts organisations throughout the West Midlands to mark the summer solstice with a free one-day festival on Saturday 20 June 2020. The short films below, inspired by Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night's Dream, were all created for the event.
