Daniel Evans joined Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s trip to China to explore opportunities for collaboration and growth.
Alongside 60 business and cultural leaders, the trip included a delegation from the West Midlands with Mayor Richard Parker and Chief Executives from leading Midlands businesses, such as Jaguar Land Rover. The West Midlands is a thriving cultural and innovation hub, producing a mix of world-class theatre, TV, film and music alongside a vibrant tech hub.
This visit coincided with the RSC's production of Matilda The Musical’s international tour, which is visiting China for the third time, 15 years on from its first performance at the RSC in Stratford-Upon-Avon. To date, the production has been seen by 12 million people in 100 cities worldwide.
The Prime Minister met with the company and creatives from the production's international tour, to learn more about the craft and skills that bring the production to life, and the role theatre plays in putting the UK on the global stage through opportunities for international collaboration.
