The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind, a bold and uplifting new musical from RSC, Kenny Wax Limited and Chuchu Nwagu Productions, will be transferring to London following its premiere in Stratford-upon-Avon.

Following a 6-week run in the Swan Theatre from 10 February to 28 March 2026, the production will transfer to @sohoplace in London’s West End for a strictly limited 12-week run from 25 April to 18 July 2026.

Priority booking for the London run is available to RSC Patrons, Members and Subscribers via @sohoplace Box Office from Monday 24 November at 10am with public booking from Wednesday 26 November at 10am.

CAST & CREATIVES ANNOUNCED

The full cast and creative team has also been revealed, as the company prepare to start rehearsals ahead of the production’s opening, with award-winning actor, and director-star of the much loved film of the same name, Chiwetel Ejiofor, joins as Creative Associate.

Alistair Nwachukwu (The Line of Beauty, Choir Boy) will make his RSC debut as William Kamkwamba, with Madeline Appiah (whose RSC includes The Winter's Tale, Macbeth, The Merchant of Venice and The Taming of the Shrew) as his mother Agnes, Tsemaye Bob-Egbe (Play On!, Six the Musical) as his sister Annie, and Sifiso Mazibuko as his father Trywell (Girl From the North Country, Hamilton).

This production is directed by Lynette Linton (Alterations, Shifters), formerly Artistic Director of the Bush Theatre, with book and lyrics by Richy Hughes (Southwark Playhouse Superhero) and music and lyrics by Tim Sutton (Restless Natives, RSC The Merry Wives of Windsor).
