The smash hit RSC production, written by Laura Wade and directed by Tamara Harvey, will tour the UK from January-May 2026, with Kara Tointon taking the title role.

Our hit comedy The Constant Wife by Laura Wade, based on the play by W Somerset Maugham and directed by RSC Co-Artistic Director Tamara Harvey, will tour the UK in 2026.

Following its critically-acclaimed premiere in the Swan Theatre this summer, The Constant Wife will head to 17 venues across the UK, starting at The Grand Theatre Blackpool on 16 January and ending in Bath's Theatre Royal on 16 May.

Taking the title role of Constance will be Kara Tointon, known for playing Eliza Doolittle in Pygmalion in London’s West End, from TV’s Mr Selfridge and as the winner of Strictly Come Dancing.

The Constant Wife is directed by RSC Co-Artistic Director Tamara Harvey, and written by Olivier Award-winning playwright Laura Wade, based on the original play by W. Somerset Maugham.

W Somerset Maugham’s ‘sparkling comedy of ill manners’ was oiriginally written in 1926. Now, 100 years later, this new version of The Constant Wife has been brought bang up-to-date by Laura Wade, the Olivier Award-winning writer of Home, I’m Darling and the phenomenally successful Disney+ TV series Rivals.

The Constant Wife was commisioned by five-time Olivier Award and two-time Tony Award winning producer David Pugh and is sponsored by long term RSC partner, Cunard.
