ON TELEVISION IN THE UK

SKY

Sky Arts has screened RSC productions of Richard II (2013) starring David Tennant; Hamlet (2016) starring Paapa Essiedu; King Lear (2018) starring Antony Sher; Macbeth (2018) starring Christopher Eccleston. These can also be streamed by Sky customers or on platforms that host Sky Arts.

BBC

The BBC has several RSC productions available on iPlayer, following its Season of Shakespeare in 2023. They include Othello (2015) starring Hugh Quarshie and Lucian Msamati and Hamlet (2009) starring David Tennant and Patrick Stewart. Find out more about the season of Shakespeare on BBC Four.

The list of productions varies on each service and may change over time, but viewers can currently enjoy shows from our 2019 summer season, including our gender-flipped production of The Taming of the Shrew, or go further back to Paapa Essiedu's turn as Hamlet, Antony Sher in King Lear, or Christopher Luscombe's First World War-era Love's Labour's Lost
