In 2023, we will celebrate the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s First Folio and, as part of that, we recently launched a major new project called 37 Plays, open to anybody in the UK who wants to write and submit a play that reflects the world we live in.

We now need to find a nationwide panel of 20 Readers to help us select those plays from all the entries we receive.

We are looking for people with experience working with new writing and scripts. Whether you've worked with new or professional writers or supported children and young people in their writing endeavours, we'd like to hear from you.

Robin Belfield, RSC Head of National Partnerships

'Our hope is to build a pool of Readers that reflects the diversity of the plays we hope to receive next year - from all the regions and nations of the UK, from all age groups, heritages, and life experiences.'

If you are interested in applying to become one of our Readers, you should be able to commit to reading up to 250 scripts and attending a maximum of five two-hour script readings between now and April 2023. Scripts will vary in length from 1–100 pages and will be submitted by UK residents of any age. As a Reader, we will asked you to send in a brief feedback form for each play you read.

You can find out more information or to apply to be a 37 Plays Reader.
