By Grace Hemmings-Buckler

Part of 37 Plays, a national playwriting project to create a series of 37 brand new plays that reflect the world we live in today.

SYNOPSIS

It is a story about a girl who has a secret talent for stargazing, at a time when looking at the night sky has been banned by the King. He is afraid that people will learn too much if they look at the stars, and only seven people who have been appointed by him are allowed to stargaze. Despite this, the girl finds a way to learn about the night sky.

It is also a story about standing up for what you believe in. The lead character disobeys rules so she can do what is right, and to help other people.

About the playwright

Grace Hemmings-Buckler is from the East Midlands. She likes the night sky, so she wrote Stargazer as a story and her head teacher read it out to the whole school! She then re-wrote it for the RSC competition. Stargazer is her first play. As well as writing, Grace loves reading, drawing, dancing, acting, and playing with her cat, Raven.
