Part of 37 Plays, a national playwriting project to create a series of 37 brand new plays that reflect the world we live in today.

There is a boy called Alfie in a history class when he suddenly has a detention from his teacher, Mrs Rogers. When he comes out of detention, he falls and is transported into the year 1066. He meets King Harold, and fights for him in the Battle of Hastings.

When Harold dies, he is full of grief. But when he gets back home, there is another war to worry about. Ukraine and Russia are at war! Alfie makes a speech about how terrible war is, to persuade people to do more about it.

"This is a wonderful short play by someone aged younger than 11. It is remarkably well structured, moving, authentic, funny, and captivating. Reading this transported me back to my childhood."
