We currently offer four levels of Certificate training, each exploring our rehearsal room approaches to teaching Shakespeare. Whether you're an Early Career Teacher or an experienced Shakespearean, join us on our next course to enhance your teaching and your pupils' learning.
Each course includes a ticket to see a Shakespeare play in our repertoire, a resource pack of activities to use in the classroom, the chance to network and build relationships with fellow teachers and opportunities to work with and receive support from experienced RSC practitioners.
Our newest and most accessible tier, the Introduction Certificate is a one day CPD course that focuses on the current plays on our stages.
Next course: 25 March 2024
Our flagship course for teachers new to using RSC rehearsal room approaches, the Foundation Certificate is three days of CPD investigating three of Shakespeare's most popular plays.
Next course: 12-13 February 2024 and 3 June 2024
The next tier involves three days which delve deeper into the language structures and historical contexts of Shakespeare's plays that make them so exciting to encounter in our classrooms.
Designed for teachers who have completed three days of training with the RSC, such as three Introduction courses, one Foundation course or other experiences such as through our Associate Schools Programme.
Next course: Autumn 2024 (dates TBC)
Eligibility for the Advanced Course typically follows successful completion of the Intermediate Course and runs over two academic years.
Next course details:
- Launch event: 4.00pm - 5.30pm, Monday 16 September 2024
