We have begun our tenth year of partnership with Horace Mann School in New York.

RSC Learning has been working with Horace Mann School in the Bronx, New York, since 2015. The collaboration with Horace Mann School includes a professional development programme for teachers, cross curricular residencies by RSC artists and teacher conferences. Our Associate Learning Practitioners use our rehearsal room approaches to embed the RSC pedagogy in the school from Kindergarten to Upper School. In June 2026, teachers from the school will continue this enrichment with a week’s CPD residential in Stratford upon Avon.

We work with several faculties within the school; implementing the pedagogy across English, History and Modern Foreign Languages. Most recently in Summer 2025, RSC Learning and Horace Mann School jointly produced a conference on Teaching Shakespeare Today, in New York. RSC practitioners worked with participants to introduce hands-on approaches to the plays’ rich engagement with gender and genre, text and social context, art and politics, empathy and morality.

Teacher feedback

“I know the work I teach backwards and forwards but I’ve never been so inspired

as when working with you… These sessions are among the very best experiences

of my teaching career, the kind of thing that makes you think teaching can be a

reason for being!”
