From page to stage 

Discover the incredible process as a play makes its way from page to stage at The Other Place.

  • Hear accounts from directors and actors about their rehearsal process
  • Discover how costumes and props used in rehearsals can influence the performance
  • Peek into the vast Costume Hire store

We are currently undertaking some minor building works at The Other Place. This means that we are currently unable to offer Page to Stage tours to wheelchair users or those with mobility difficulties who would have trouble using the stairs unassisted. We hope that these works will be completed by the end of August/early September.  We are sorry for any inconvenience this might cause, and thank you for your understanding.

After dark

After the show, as the theatre transforms from a hive of activity to a quiet and empty building. Our guide will lead you through the old parts of the theatre to discover things that go bump in the night.

  • Explore the older parts of the theatre to discover Shakespeare's ghosts
  • Learn about the Grey Lady and other spectres said to inhabit our theatres 
  • Hear for yourself the sound of footsteps in empty rooms, or glimpse the strange figure that has been seen wandering in the Scott Bar

Open air

Most of this tour takes place outside and the route is accessible for wheelchairs and pushchairs.

  • Discover the story behind the founding of the Royal Shakespeare Company
  • Explore the theatre buildings and surrounding gardens
  • Learn more about the history of theatre in Shakespeare's home town

The backstage areas and the auditoria are not part of these tours.

All of our tours can be tailored for school visits - just let us know the ages of the students taking part when booking and we will do the rest. Please note that one adult is required for every 10 students.

The Tower 

Enjoy panoramic views of Stratford-upon-Avon and beyond from our Tower.

A lift will take you up to the viewing platform and, as you descend via the stairs, you will discover an exhibition installed on the walls and in the alcoves. Our friendly staff will be on hand to answer your questions.

KIDS GO FREE

You can get two free kids' (under 16) tickets with every full price adult ticket purchased Monday to Friday only. Available 23 October to 27 October.

OPENING TIMES 

Our summer opening times (March to October) are:

  • Sunday - Friday: 10am to 5pm
  • Saturdays and weekday matinee days 10am - 12.15pm, 2pm - 5pm

Our winter opening times (October to March) are: 

  • Sunday to Friday: 10am - 4.30pm
  • Weekday matinee days 10am - 12.15pm, 2pm - 4.30pm
  • Saturdays 10am - 12.15pm

Please note that if there is a performance or event in the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, the Tower will be closed during that time.

TOURS AND TOWER ACCESS 

There can be a significant amount of walking involved but all our tour routes are fully accessible and audio amplification headsets are available. The Tower is fully accessible by lift.
