Touring in China

Our first major tour of China took place in 2016 with our King and Country plays.

King and Country tour

To mark the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare's death, we undertook a major tour to China in 2016 with Artistic Director Gregory Doran's acclaimed productions of Shakespeare's Henry IV Part I, Henry IV Part II and Henry V.As well as playing in Stratford-upon-Avon, London and New York, the plays performed at the following venues: 

  • National Centre for the Performing Arts, Beijing (February 2016)
  • Shanghai Grand Theatre (February 2016)
  • Hong Kong Arts Festival (March 2016)

The King and Country tour visit Beijing in 2016 - that's a lot of swords!

First day of rehearsals for Henry V at the Shanghai Dramatic Arts Centre, 2016. Our translation of Henry V into Mandarin is the first of the Shakespeare Folio Project - a decade-long ambition by the RSC to translate all of Shakespeare's works into Mandarin.
