Literary Houses: An Overnight Event

15-16 April 2016

To celebrate Shakespeare’s lasting legacy in the 400th anniversary of his death, this is a special event visiting the houses of several literary figures influenced by Shakespeare. This event starts in Stratford and visits the homes of Vita Sackville West, Rudyard Kipling, Virginia Woolf and Vanessa Bell and the Bloomsbury Group. It includes overnight accommodation in a sea front hotel in Eastbourne and celebratory dinner with entertainment. The price also includes an entrance fee to Charleston (the other houses are National Trust properties, so free to members; non-members will have to pay entry price on the door). It also includes all transport by coach, returning to Stratford in the early evening of 16 April. Please be aware there are some stairs to climb and short distances to walk.

Email coreenturner@btinternet.com as soon as you book with room requirements, single, double or twin, (if you wish to join at Sissinghurst this is possible, please advise Coreen at the same time).

Nicky Cox
Friday 4 March, 4pm
Holy Trinity Parish Centre

At the time of going to print, we are eagerly awaiting the new production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream with its teams of ‘Mechanicals’ drawn from amateur groups all over the country.  One of these groups from Stratford, the Bear Pit, is being directed by Nicky Cox, herself no stranger to RSC stages. As a member of the Events and Exhibitions department, she has often been seen interviewing members of the company at pre/post show events so we are very pleased that she has agreed to come and give some insight into what promises to be a most innovative production.
