Shakespeare Birthday Reception
The Other Place

In this very special year with so many events taking place in and around the theatre, we are delighted to announce that our reception is going to be held in the upper foyer area of The Other Place – a first opportunity for many of us to enter the space for quite some time. Start the day of festivities with us for birthday cake and Bucks Fizz or tea/coffee before going on to see other events taking place around the town. Please note that there are new arrangements this year for the procession. The representatives of the Friends who will join the main procession have already been agreed, but if you would like to process to the church, gather at the bottom of Bridge Street and not at the Friends’ flag. Parade marshals will be there to form up the second procession which you can join.

Rufus Hound
Holy Trinity Parish Centre

Not only is this a special anniversary year for Shakespeare, but it is also the 400th anniversary of the death of Cervantes, writer of Don Quixote, currently playing in the Swan Theatre.  We are thrilled that one of its leading actors, Rufus Hound, has agreed to speak to us in May. Rufus is very well known as a television presenter, comedian and actor, but this is his debut season with the RSC and we are very much looking forward to meeting him.

Ayesha Dharker
Holy Trinity Parish Centre

Ayesha Dharker was last seen in Stratford playing the role of Iago’s wife Emilia in last year’s production of Othello – before that she had been the most beguiling Shahrazad in Dominic Cooke’s Arabian Nights back in 2009.  We are very excited by her return to the RSC, this time to play Titania in A Midsummer Night’s Dream and even more pleased that she has made time in her very hectic schedule (lots of extra rehearsals with the different groups of ‘Mechanicals’) to meet with the Friends.
