CELEBRATE VALENTINE’S DAY WITH THE ROYAL SHAKESPEARE COMPANY

The Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) will offer a special Valentine’s pre-theatre menu in the Rooftop Restaurant, which overlooks the River Avon on February 14, 15 and 16.

Valentine’s Day coincides with the Company’s cinema broadcast of the critically acclaimed production of Twelfth Night, which can be seen live in local cinemas across the UK on Valentine’s night.  Twelfth Night, which features Adrian Edmondson and Kara Tointon as Malvolio and Olivia, is a funny and heart-breaking tale of unrequited love.

The specially created Valentine’s Day feast includes a sharing menu featuring locally sourced ingredients, with baked rosemary—and-truffle-studded Cornish Camembert and sundried tomato bread to start, a 14oz Chateaubriand of  Herefordshire beef with triple cooked chips, Portobello mushroom, slow roasted plum tomato, onion rings and peppercorn and béarnaise sauces as their main course, and a dessert sharing platter including hot chocolate mousse, lime and passionfruit profiteroles, raspberry sorbet, honeycomb ice cream, butter royale, langue de chat, strawberries, raspberries and vanilla mascarpone to finish.

Non-sharing options include starters of candied heritage beetroot, carrot and lentil salad, with tahini, lemon and harissa dressing, and caramelised red onion and goats cheese tartlet with bitter leaves and honey mustard dressing. Mains range from roast and confit duck leg with spiced red cabbage, rosemary roast potatoes and Madeira sauce to stuffed Portobello mushroom with sweet potato, spinach, feta and pinenuts, saffron couscous and a tomato and chili sauce. The meal can be rounded off with chocolate truffle mousse, poached clementine and vanilla mascarpone, warm apple and caramel cake with bramley apple puree and honeycomb ice cream, among many other luxurious options.

The full menu can be viewed at the RSC’s website here: https://www.rsc.org.uk/rooftop-restaurant/special-occasions/valentines. Prices range from £5.50 to £12 for starters and £12.50 to £55 for mains and the menu is served between 4.30pm and 6.30pm.

Twelfth Night will be broadcast live to cinemas on February 14. To find a local cinema visit https://www.rsc.org.uk/twelfth-night/in-cinemas
