New range of non-alcoholic mocktails launched

The Royal Shakespeare Company has launched a brand new range of non-alcoholic mocktails specially designed for children at its restaurant in Stratford-upon-Avon to coincide with the run of its family show Wendy & Peter Pan.

The national theatre, based in the heart of the Midlands, is offering children three mocktails inspired by its forthcoming family show – Wendy & Peter Pan at its Rooftop Restaurant Bar.

Mocktails include the ‘Tinkertini’, based on Peter Pan’s mischievous fairy sidekick Tink. The pink drink is a mix of raspberry sherbet, apple juice and comes complete with edible glitter stars. A pirate style ‘Dastardly Daiquiri’, inspired by the character of Hook, contains edible buried treasure in the bottom of the glass, as well as floating candy shaped skull and cross bones. Finally is the ‘Neverland Sunrise’ which offers a brand new take on the traditional adult cocktail which children can enjoy as a layered fruit juice drink and feel as Peter Pan does while in Neverland – grown up.

Sara Aspley, RSC Head of Commercial Services, said: ”Wendy & Peter Pan is all about children getting lost in a magical place where they have lots of fantastic adventures. We hope our brand new range of mocktails, inspired by the family show, will do the same and offer children an exciting flavour of Neverland.”

The RSC also offers a range of Shakespeare inspired adult cocktails. Past offerings include the Bloody Tamora, based on Shakespeare’s gory and tragic Titus Andronicus, as well as the Kiss Me Kate cocktail – which focused on the witty character, Katherina, from Shakespeare’s play The Taming of the Shrew. The RSC has crafted special cocktails for new work and recently came up with the Optimist’s Cocktail, based on the play Candide by Mark Ravenhill which was inspired by French philosopher Voltaire’s iconic story.

The Rooftop Restaurant Bar regularly hosts Cocktail Masterclasses which take adults through the cocktail making process, as well as teach them how to mix the perfect drink.  Sessions cost £12 and include two free drinks. The Royal Shakespeare Company creates theatre at its best, made in Stratford-upon-Avon and shared around the world. Everyone at the RSC - from actors to armourers, musicians to technicians - plays a part in creating the world you see on stage. All our productions begin life at our Stratford workshops and theatres and we bring them to the widest possible audience through our touring, residencies, live broadcasts and online activity. So wherever you experience the RSC, you experience work made in Shakespeare’s home town.

We encourage everyone to enjoy a lifelong relationship with Shakespeare and live theatre.  We produce an inspirational artistic programme each year, setting Shakespeare in context, alongside the work of his contemporaries and today’s writers.  We have trained generations of the very best theatre makers and we continue to nurture the talent of the future. We reach 450,000 children and young people annually through our education work across the UK, transforming their experiences in the classroom, in performance and online.
