COCKTAIL MASTERCLASSES AND A BRAND NEW SERIES OF SHAKESPEARE INSPIRED COCKTAILS AT THE RSC THIS SUMMER
The Royal Shakespeare Company continues to host its series of special cocktail masterclasses at its bar overlooking the river Avon in Stratford-upon-Avon.
People can learn more about how to mix the perfect drink and the history behind cocktail-making at the theatre’s Rooftop Restaurant bar in the heart of the town. The 45 minute sessions can be booked Monday to Friday.
The masterclasses follow on from the RSC’s creation of Shakespeare inspired cocktails which help to celebrate his work on our stages. This season’s cocktails include I am Hamlet, inspired by the current production of Hamlet, a mix of Amarula and apricot liqueur; Mischief Maker, which celebrates our magical touring show, A Midsummer Night’s Dream; A Play for the Nation, a cheeky little number which includes a mix of Limoncello, gin, pineapple and a dash of lime - and lastly Innogen from Cymbeline - a layered bright looking cocktail and like Cymbeline’s feisty daughter Innogen guaranteed to pack a punch.
Silvio Del Torre, RSC Rooftop Restaurant Manager, said: “Get the complete Shakespeare experience this Summer and come and enjoy making a cocktail at the RSC, a national theatre based in Shakespeare’s hometown of Stratford-upon-Avon. Or why not complement seeing a show with a show-themed cocktail and get a real taste of the play.”
Past offerings include the Bloody Tamora, based on Shakespeare’s gory and tragic Titus Andronicus, as well as the Kiss Me Kate cocktail – which focused on the witty character, Katherina, from Shakespeare’s play The Taming of the Shrew.
