Henry IV Part II

William Shakespeare

Shakespeare’s heartbreaking conclusion to his epic pair of history plays.

Gregory Doran directs Shakespeare's epic pair of plays with a cast including Antony Sher as Sir John Falstaff, Jasper Britton as King Henry and Alex Hassell as Prince Hal.

Part II
King Henry's health is failing but he is uncertain Hal is a worthy heir. Meanwhile, Falstaff is sent to the
countryside to recruit fresh troops, where he gleefully indulges in the business of lining his own pockets. As the King's health continues to worsen, Hal must choose between duty and loyalty to an old friend in Shakespeare's heartbreaking conclusion to this pair of plays.

Our residency at the Barbican culminated in January 2016 with a major theatrical event to mark the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s death: KING AND COUNTRY: Shakespeare’s Great Cycle of Kings. Following its London run, in February Henry IV Parts I & II and Henry V toured to China and Hong Kong. The complete King & Country Cycle plays at the Brooklyn Academy of Music in New York until 1 May.

Running time: 2 hrs 41 mins + 20 mins interval
