We set up a Youth Advisory Board (YAB) to ensure that young people’s voices and opinions are heard and acted upon.
The board is made up of 30 young people from a diverse group of ages, genders and ethnicities who have been recruited from Associate Schools across England. Ages range from nine to 18.
Young Creatives' Convention
Our Youth Advisory Board hosted our first national Young Creatives' Convention, giving a voice to young people, on Wednesday 19 July, 2023.
Developed and curated by the Youth Advisory Board, this youth-led event was the first of its kind in the Royal Shakespeare Theatre and brought together over 300 young people from across the country to explore the issues that matter most to them, how they can collectively drive change and what they want from arts organisations and schools.
Members of the RSC Youth Advisory Board, said; “Young people’s voices are nowhere to be seen in the issues that matter most to us. We care about active anti-racism in schools, in arts organisation and in society; we care about mental health and wellbeing for young people; we care about the arts and culture in education and about access and inclusion in the arts. We want to take action about these issues and we want to bring together young people from across the country who also want to create positive change in their schools and communities. Together we can create a movement for change.”

Young SEND Leaders' Network
We are growing and developing a small group of Young SEN Leaders who can work with us to ensure opportunities and events for young people with additional needs are as inclusive and accessible as possible. These young people will be pivotal in helping us all shape what future SEND Symposiums will look like as they continue to work together.
If you have young people who are interested in joining our group of Young SEN Leaders, please contact freddy.goymer@rsc.org.uk.
