Help us make banners with schools in Stratford-upon-Avon for Shakespeare Birthday Celebrations in 2025.
We're seeking an artist with experience working within a school setting, to lead a series of workshops to create four banners for Shakespeare’s Birthday Celebrations 2025. The banners will be paraded through the town by the schools, during Shakespeare’s Birthday Parade.
The appointed artist will lead 8 workshops in four Primary Schools, 2 in each school, to design and create the banners with the young people. The four individual banners will be inspired by a Shakespeare play, or character from a play, TBC. The workshops can have the same planning and workshop structure in each of the 4 schools as the final artworks will be representative of those who have made it. You will have access to images of the RSC Collection to inspire conversations around style, themes, fabrics and textures to design their banner. This will then be photographed and re-printed onto banner material; therefore, can be any visual art form.
We are committed to Equality, Diversity, Justice & Inclusion and actively seek creatives that push boundaries and make positive change, we are excited by working with creatives that have a social conversation as part of their work, creating work that is accessible and sustainable, as well as spectacular and impactful.
