Live theatre is exciting. It can be loud, bright, shocking at times, and occasionally some of the effects we use, or the themes our productions explore, can trigger distressing emotions.
We know that some of our audiences appreciate detailed information on the content of our shows in order to make informed decisions and to prepare themselves, or members of their party, including those with additional needs.

FIRST ENCOUNTERS: JULIUS CAESAR
Julius Caesar is one of Shakespeare’s tragedy plays. There are deaths in the play, including murder and the reporting of a death by suicide, as well as depictions of self-harm and characters experiencing grief. This production is set in an all-female prison, with the actors playing prison characters and the stage management team playing prison guards.
This production features:

- Very loud music (we recommend ear defenders are made available for young people who use these)
- Loud noises and voices
- Flashing lights
- Sounds of war, including recorded gunshots
- Stage fighting including the assassination of Julius Caesar in a violent act involving multiple stabbing which happens close to the audience
- Fake blood
- Plastic toy guns and plastic toy machine guns
- Plastic knives
- Threats, descriptions and depictions of physical violence
- The occasional use of strong language
