Shakespeare's plays

All directors of Shakespeare have one thing in common: the text. Productions differ greatly because the play texts are open to interpretation - it's up to each director and their company to make informed interpretative choices.

Use the links below explore a selection of Shakespeare's plays in depth, and find out more about some of our past productions. We currently have information - plot synopses, historical information, past production images and video - for over half of Shakespeare's plays. We regularly add new information, as well as additional Shakespeare's plays.

You can also view the archive Education site for more about our productions of Hamlet (2004), Macbeth (2004) and A Midsummer Night's Dream (2005):

We also produce plays by other playwrights.
