Your support is more vital than ever as we begin our recovery and plan for the future of the RSC. We are grateful for the continued support and generosity of our audiences.

The Royal Shakespeare Company is a charity and our mission is to transform lives through amazing experiences of Shakespeare and great theatre. Please consider supporting us by making a donation and Keep Your RSC.

In 2020, with our doors closed, we lost significant income, many millions, and there was a time when the future of the RSC was uncertain.

However, with the support of thousands of generous audience members and a £19.4 million loan from the Culture Recovery Fund, we are open and once again performing Shakespeare’s work in his hometown of Stratford-upon-Avon.

We are thrilled to be welcoming audiences back but it will take time to recover, to reopen all our theatres, and many years to repay the loan. This is the start of our recovery and your ongoing support is more important than ever.

Your support is felt by thousands of young people, as well as adults, and will help the RSC recover, creating theatre at its best, unlocking Shakespeare and transforming lives.

Please consider supporting us by making a donation and Keep Your RSC.

Ways to support

  • Become a Member or Patron - Join the RSC and receive invitations to exclusive online and in-person events, priority booking, regular communications from the RSC and much more. Meet like-minded supporters who help to create theatre at its best, made in Stratford-upon-Avon and shared across the world.
  • Increase your support - Already a Member or Patron? You can help even more by increasing your annual or monthly donation. Please contact Development team on patron@rsc.org.uk to find out how.
  • Leave a Legacy - Legacy giving ensures the RSC's future security and artistic freedom. Donations from those who have chosen to remember us in their wills have helped to support our work both on stage and behind the scenes, supporting actor training, education projects and the transformation of our Stratford-upon-Avon home.
  • Gift a Membership - Consider gifting a theatre lover an RSC membership this Christmas.
  • Gift Aid - If you are a UK tax payer, you can increase any donations you have made this year, and for the past four years, by 25% just by ticking a box. Completing a Gift Aid declaration is one of the many easy ways to support us.
  • Give without spending - You can support the RSC without any additional cost to yourself by registering the RSC as your chosen charity with Easy Fundraising or Amazon Smile. Retailers will make a donation to the RSC on your behalf.

RSC in lockdown

Over the last year we have been working hard to create online events for our supporters to ensure they still feel connected to the RSC during these difficult times.

All of our supporters have access to watch our Talking Shakespeare series, where RSC Artistic Director Gregory Doran talks Shakespeare with some of our RSC Alumni. Previous events have included conversations with David Tennant, Adjoa Andoh, Ray Fearon and Judi Dench, amongst many others, while the most recent series saw Gregory in conversation with three past RSC Artistic Directors: Trevor Nunn, Michael Boyd and Adrian Noble. Please consider joining as a supporter to have access to the live events, the recordings for previous seasons and invitations to more exclusive events.
