We're heading back to Chicago for the first time in 30 years with Tamara Harvey’s RSC directorial debut, Pericles.

Shakespeare’s tale of an epic voyage is a fitting choice for the first play in three decades to make the leap across the Atlantic, from Stratford-upon-Avon to Chicago.

Following its opening at the Swan Theatre in July 2024, our Co-Artistic Director Tamara Harvey’s vision of the mystical Pericles will transfer to the Chicago Shakespeare Theater in October 2024.

The play's exclusive seven-week run continues a historic collaboration between the RSC and Chicago, which goes back more than 100 years.

Pericles marks Chicago Shakespeare Theater’s 100th international production.

“The RSC’s connection with Chicago dates back to 1913 and many of our audiences and company remember welcoming Chicago Shakespeare Theater to Stratford-upon-Avon as part of our Complete Works Festival in 2006. Bringing this production of Pericles directly from our inaugural season marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter between our two companies. We can’t wait to share it with CST's audiences.”

Pericles opens at the Swan Theatre on 26 July 2024, and transfers to The Chicago Shakespeare Theater 20 October - 8 December 2024.
