An audience at Shakespeare's Birthday Celebrations in 2014

Celebrate Shakespeare's Birthday with free workshops, performances and activities for the whole family on Saturday 25 April.

Birthday Procession
Shakespeare's Birthday Celebrations Procession will begin at 10.30am.

Free Drop-in Craft
11.30am - 4.15pm
Simple arts activities suitable for under 10's. You can sign our giant birthday card for Billy, design your own sword and shield and become one of Henry V's knights, or create a traditional pinwheel to spin in the breeze.

Meet the Artist
12 noon - 1.30pm and 3 - 4pm
Visit our new exhibition, Sea-Markings, by Susan Stockwell, exploring themes of money, trade and identity. Susan will be with us in the exhibition for the day to talk to visitors about her work and practice.

Storytelling with Debs Newbold
Debs Newbold is a storyteller who effortlessly brings together the ancient and the urban, the poetic and the irreverent, the epic and the everyday.
Two Tales from a Stranger - suitable for families of all ages
12 noon - 12.30pm and 1.30 - 2pm
Two from Way Out There - suitable for adults
6 - 6.30pm

Live Music
11.15am - 1pm, 4.20 - 5pm, 6.45 - 7.20pm
Musical performances around the building – including the beautiful sound of the West African kora, klezmer and English folk.

Sonnets from the Tower
1.30 - 4.30pm
Look out over Shakespeare's hometown whilst listening to his wonderful words spoken by RSC actors.

Puppet Street Theatre
12.45 - 1.30pm and 3.30 - 4.15pm
Hodman Dodmanott and Sally Forth presented by The Flying Buttresses
Two tiny adventurers with a lot on their minds and even more on their backs. Join these elderly amblers as they set out to unfathom the modern world.

Workshops and demonstrations suitable for families with younger children aged 4 and over, and theatre skills workshops led by RSC practitioners, suitable for anyone aged 10 years and over.

Stage Fighting Demonstration
