The exquisite Chandos Portrait of Shakespeare, on loan from the National Portrait Gallery, was part of The Play’s The Thing from October to December 2016.

This unique portrait, painted during Shakespeare’s lifetime has lived at the National Portrait Gallery since it was founded in 1856, only leaving the building on a few occasions since then.
