Richard II was broadcast live to cinemas around the world on 13 November 2013 from the Royal Shakespeare Theatre.

RSC Artistic Director Gregory Doran directs David Tennant in the title role. David is joined in the Company by Oliver Ford Davies as the Duke of York, Michael Pennington as John of Gaunt and Nigel Lindsay as Bolingbroke.

Richard II is King. A monarch ordained by God to lead his people. A man whose vanity threatens to divide the great houses of England and drag his people into a dynastic and bloody civil war.

The Blu-ray disc also includes a commentary by Director Gregory Doran and Live from Stratford-upon-Avon Producer John Wyver, an interview with David Tennant in which he discusses his thoughts on the play and the character of Richard, and a film exploring behind the scenes of the production, giving an insight into the process of putting the play onto the stage at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre and the logistics of filming the production for live broadcast.
