Christmas Activities

The Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) is offering choirs, theatre groups, schools and colleges the chance to perform on a special stage in the Royal Shakespeare Theatre on Sundays in the run-up to Christmas. 

Groups are being invited to apply for the 45 minute slots which are available from 12noon-4pm on Sunday 29 November, Sunday 6 December and again on Sunday 13 December. Applications are available by emailing and forms should be returned by Friday 6 November. 

The RSC is also offering families an array of festive fun this Christmas:

  • Enjoy decorating the RSC Christmas tree as part of a series of free workshops
  • Join Peter Pan's friends, The Lost Boys and Tink, to help them find their toys as part of a free trail around the Royal Shakespeare Theatre


Christmas Craft Workshops – free 
Colonnade, Royal Shakespeare Theatre 
Saturday 28 November, 5 and 12 December, 11am-12.30pm 
Sunday 29 November, 6 and 13 December, 2-4pm 

Young people can get crafty as part of a series of free Christmas activity workshops. Fill a bauble with your memories of the theatre, favourite quotes or characters and also enjoy creating your own fairy decorations to celebrate the RSC's upcoming production of Wendy & Peter Pan. Decorations will be added to the tree and can be collected after 5 January. Workshops are for those aged eight and over. 

Wendy & Peter Pan Family Day – £5 adults, £3.50 children 
Royal Shakespeare Theatre 
Saturday 9 January, 10.15am-11.15am 
Join members of the Wendy & Peter Pan Company and Creative Team to explore the theatre making process. The event coincides with a matinee showing of Wendy & Peter Pan. For ages eight and over. 

Lost in Neverland Trail – free 
Royal Shakespeare Theatre 
Saturday 24 October – Sunday 10 January 2016, 10am-5pm 
Children can join Peter Pan's friends, The Lost Boys and Tink, to help them find their toys as part of a free trail around the Royal Shakespeare Theatre. Children can also discover an array of magical fairies as part of the trail. Suitable for ages six and over. 

Wendy & Peter Pan Family Workshop – £5 adults, £3.50 children 
Clore Learning Centre 
Saturday 5 December, 10am-11.30am 
Saturday 16 January 2016, 10am-11.30am 
Families can enjoy being actors in this session which looks at the RSC's forthcoming production of Wendy & Peter Pan. No previous experience or knowledge of the play is required as you'll be introduced to the story on the day. Suitable for children aged eight and over. 


Make-believe: The Art of Neverland, free 
PACCAR room, Royal Shakespeare Theatre 
Monday – Sunday, 10am-5pm, until 21 February 2016 
Audiences can explore the world of Wendy & Peter Pan through the eyes of artists and illustrators in this new free exhibition Make-Believe: The Art of Neverland. Generations of children and families have been influenced by the many wonderful illustrations that have been part of the story since it was first published. In this exhibition artists have transformed the story, book and page into new artworks. The exhibition includes original costume and stage designs for the RSC production of Wendy & Peter Pan as well as work by artists Paula Rego, Tom Gallant and Béatrice Coron. Free children's activities are also available as part of the exhibition.
