See David Walliams’ The Boy in the Dress on stage for the first time in a musical, alongside Shakespeare and two brand new plays in the Swan Theatre.
Public Booking is now open for our exciting next season of plays, opening from September 2019.
The Boy in the Dress will premiere in the Royal Shakespeare Theatre in November. This brand new musical based on the best-selling book by David Walliams, is directed by Gregory Doran with script by Mark Ravenhill and all new songs from Robbie Williams and Guy Chambers.
Our season of plays in the Swan theatre explores contemporary issues of nationhood:
- King John – Shakespeare’s rarely performed tale of a nation in turmoil vibrates with modern resonance in this vivid new production directed by Eleanor Rhode.
- A Museum in Baghdad – Hannah Khalil’s new play explores what it means to try and create a nation and why a country’s treasures matter when people are dying.
- The Whip – this compelling new play by Juliet Gilkes Romero asks what is the right thing to do, and how much it must cost.
