Our 2018 production of Romeo and Juliet is now available on iPlayer for 60 days.

You can watch our acclaimed 2018 Romeo and Juliet on BBC Two for free now on BBC iPlayer for 60 days.

The play was directed by Erica Whyman and ran at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre before going on a national tour. Young people from every region on the tour performed as the Chorus alongside Bally Gill as Romeo, Karen Fishwick as Juliet, and the rest of the professional cast. Bally went on to win the 2019 Ian Charleson Award for his performance in the show.

Romeo and Juliet was broadcast on BBC Two on 9 February as part of the BBC's Lockdown Learning's Shakespeare Week. The BBC will also run Shakespeare focused episodes of Bitesize Daily and two episodes of Shakespeare Unlocked, a collaboration between the RSC and BBC Teach where RSC actors explore language and characters in key scenes:

  • Macbeth - Monday 8 February, 2pm, BBC Two
  • A Midsummer Night's Dream - Thursday 11 February, 2.15pm, BBC Two

We have lots of resources for students and teachers who want to explore Romeo and Juliet further. You can download our Romeo and Juliet Activity Toolkit, learn more about the play in the Shakespeare Learning Zone and watch a Live Lesson exploring two key scenes.
