Get a free ticket to see members of the public take to the stage as part of the national programme of Fun Palace events on Sunday 7 October.

Local singers, musicians, actors, poets and storytellers will take to the Swan Theatre stage this Sunday for a free open mic event.

From 11am - 4pm, each act will have 10 minutes to perform, providing a day of family-friendly entertainment as part of the national Fun Palaces weekend. Based on theatre-maker Joan Littlewood's vision of bringing culture back into the community, the annual campaign features special events around the country, created by, for and with local people.

Acts taking part include local singer Jen Waghorn, the Bear Pit Theatre and Bootleg Puppets, who will perform a section of their Avalon puppet show about Arthurian myths and legends. There will also be a selection of stand up comedians, choirs and poets throughout the day. Performers can no longer sign up for the event, but there will be slots available on the door if you would like to take part.

Audience tickets are free and can be booked for the following times:

  • 11am - 12.30pm
  • 12.45 - 2.15pm
  • 2.30 - 4pm
