The award-winning musical will play at the Civic Theatre in Auckland from 18 August to 22 October.

Matilda The Musical is the story of an imaginative little girl who dares to take a stand and change her own destiny. After successful runs in Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and Adelaide, the Australian production of the show is now moving across to New Zealand for its final performances in the region.

The Roald Dahl-inspired musical features original songs by Tim Minchin and first played in Stratford-upon-Avon in November 2010, before transferring to the Cambridge Theatre in London’s West End (where it is now the longest running musical in the theatre’s history), America and Australia.

The hit show has won over 85 major awards, including Best New Musical at the Olivier Awards and Best Book of a Musical at the Tony Awards.

As the Australian production concludes its run, a new adult cast for the London show has been announced and the first UK and Ireland tour will premiere in Leicester in March 2018.
