If you walked past the Royal Shakespeare Theatre this week you were in for a jumbo surprise - a full-sized African elephant heading for the stage.

The seven-foot elephant (name and place of origin as yet unknown) – was seen entering the Royal Shakespeare Theatre via its scene dock doors on Tuesday 12 October, with further sightings rumoured throughout the theatre building for much of the week.

The perplexed pachyderm will be making her RSC debut in our brand new musical; The Magician’s Elephant. We thought she might be nervous about stomping across our stage for the first time, but she assured us she has a thick skin.
