Actor David Tennant performs The Seven Ages of Man in lockdown.

David recorded the piece for Share Your Shakespeare, the largest ever celebration of Shakespeare by audiences in our history, launched for the playwright’s birthday in April. We used an extract from the video for the project, but we thought you’d like to see the speech in full.

The Seven Ages of Man is one of Shakespeare's most well-known speeches, spoken by Jaques in Act 2, Scene 7 of As You Like It.

You can see more David in lockdown in his new six-part series Staged, that started on BBC One on Wednesday this week. David Tennant and Michael Sheen play versions of themselves who, in the midst of the lockdown, attempt to rehearse a play together via Zoom.

David also took part in Homework Help, where we invite students to send in questions and get answers from RSC artists. He answered the question ‘What is your favourite Hamlet soliloquy and why?’
