Catherine received a CBE in Her Majesty The Queen’s Birthday Honours, while Sandeep was awarded an MBE.

Of the announcement, Erica Whyman, our Acting Artistic Director, said: "We couldn’t be prouder of Catherine, who has led the Company with such skill and thoughtfulness over the last 10 years and brilliantly navigated very tough times through the pandemic with real care and compassion. Catherine always puts others first, so we are delighted that for once we have the opportunity to celebrate her.

"We were also very pleased to hear that Sandeep has been recognised this year for her transformative work at the City of Literature in Nottingham. Sandeep joined us in January as one of our first Leadership Associates and is already making a real difference to our thinking and approach."

Susie Sainsbury, RSC Artists' Associate, was made a Dame in the Honours List, and some of our colleagues from Coventry City of Culture 2021 were also recognised: Chief Executive Martin Sutherland was awarded an OBE, while Creative Director Chenine Bhathena and Director of Audience Strategy Laura McMillan both received an MBE.
