We announce Caroline Quentin to play a key role alongside Mark Addy in our new play The Hypocrite.
Caroline Quentin will play the role of Lady Sarah Hotham, alongside Mark Addy who was previously announced in the role of Sir John Hotham. Caroline last appeared with the RSC in our original production of Les Misérables (1985). Her other credits include Men Behaving Badly (ITV/BBC) and Jonathan Creek (BBC).
The Hypocrite is written by award-winning playwright Richard Bean, whose other plays include The Nap, One Man, Two Guvnors and Made in Dagenham. It will be directed by Phillip Breen, whose recent RSC work includes the highly acclaimed The Merry Wives of Windsor (2012) and The Shoemaker's Holiday (2014).
The cast will also include Neil D'Souza, who appeared in the RSC's Midnight's Children (2003) and Much Ado About Nothing (2012), Andrew Langtree from The Shoemaker's Holiday (2014) and Oppenheimer (2015), Paul Popplewell from Bartholomew Fair (1997) and Bad Weather (1999), and Ben Goffe from A Midsummer's Night Dream (2016).
The Hypocrite will open at the Hull Truck Theatre before moving to Stratford-upon-Avon's Swan Theatre at the end of March.
