Bring the RSC into your classroom with a live, online workshop with our practitioners

Available throughout November and December, these new online workshops use Zoom to bring our practitioners to you, wherever you are in the country. Our practitioners will work with you to tailor the experience to the needs of your students and help them learn new techniques and gain greater confidence with Shakespeare.

Secondary Teacher, Stratford-upon-Avon

'The students all loved it and all felt much more at ease and now have a load more techniques to help them unlock their own duologues they will perform for their GCSE exam. I could visibly see some of them improving through the lesson from really uncertain to a much clearer understanding of the extract.'

WHAT HAPPENS IN AN ONLINE WORKSHOP?

Working as actors, students will explore the plays practically, unlocking language and characters as we do in RSC rehearsal rooms. We can tailor the sessions to the needs of your students, looking at scenes, language, character development and performance techniques. Workshops last one hour, and can be booked on the following plays:

Macbeth
Romeo and Juliet
The Tempest

Workshops will end with a performance opportunity and a deeper discussion on the play.

Each session will be led by two RSC Associate Learning Practitioners all of whom have first-hand experience of the RSC rehearsal room, working either as actors, directors or theatre education specialists.

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU

Your students will need a large space, ideally a hall or drama studio. You will need a strong Wi-Fi connection with access to Zoom. You will also need a screen on which the students will be able to view the session, and a set up that enables the practitioners to see the students. The lead teacher must be available for a short technical session the day before. You will be sent the text in advance to print out. Teachers will need to be in the space to maintain student involvement.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST AND HOW DO I BOOK?

Workshops cost £150 for a maximum of 30 students. For more information or to book please email onlineworkshops@rsc.org.uk
