The RSC returned to Latitude Festival in 2010 with the third show specifically commissioned for the festival - The Thirteen Midnight Challenges of Angelus Diablo, written by Carl Grose.
At midnight, in a field in Suffolk, Angelus Diablo and his hellish troop of misfits hosted an extraordinary magical contest which involved actors and unfortunate members of the Latitude audience.
After kidnapping RSC staff and ransacking our tents, Angelus Diablo set thirteen challenges that we and the audience had to complete. From 'The Finger Guillotine' to 'The Helmet of Bees', the challenges brought screams, laughs, half-naked actors and even sometimes, a pig in a dress.
The Thirteen Midnight Challenges of Angelus Diablo was a hit with the audience and was reviewed as a 'hilarious tale' by The Stage.
Despite the fantastic reaction, dangerous Angelus was eventually removed from the Latitude site by security, and we got all our belongings back.
