Step into Shakespeare’s shoes as part of a new self-guided tour
A free self-guided tour for families to follow in Shakespeare's footsteps, in the 2016 anniversary year of his death.
Stratford-upon-Avon and the Royal Shakespeare Theatre
- Until Sunday 30 October 2016
- Suitable for all ages
As you follow the route, you will find footsteps and speech bubbles painted on pavements that work as instructions for acting out a series of miniature dramas, inspired by the Seven Ages of Man speech from As You Like It.
Leaflets - with a map of the route, fun facts, background stories and a treasure hunt challenge - are available from Shakespeare's Birthplace, where the tour starts, as well as many other locations around the town. Locations of scenes include:
- Shakespeare’s New Place
- Shakespeare's Schoolroom and Guildhall
- Holy Trinity Church
- Royal Shakespeare Theatre
Shakespeare Steps was devised by Stan’s Cafe and commissioned by the Royal Shakespeare Company in association with Shakespeare Birthplace Trust and Shakespeare’s Schoolroom and Guildhall, and is supported by the Stratford Society and Guild Chapel.
