Winter Trail

Town of Imagination: A winter trail of stories and magic

Explore Stratford-upon-Avon and have fun with the whole family as you discover our free winter trail until 30 March 2024.

A magically lit towb

Follow a map to uncover the myths, legends, and wonder hidden within the town’s winding streets.

The Town of Imagination winter trail is inspired by the themes of magic and fairies in A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Created by Hannah Moore and designed by Ruby Pugh, in collaboration with local community groups including the new Stratford Youth Hub with Escape Arts and patients and staff at the Shakespeare Hospice.

Pick up your free trail pack with everything you need, from the Royal Shakespeare Theatre entrance, open daily from 11am.

Should you wish to take part in the trail without collecting a full pack from the theatre, download the trail booklet. Please note, there will be some activities that you can't complete without the pack.

The trail is available until 30 March 2024.

How long will the trail take?

  • Have at least 60 – 90 mins: Listen to all the stories, complete the story game, answer the riddles and questions, and come back to the cafe to read your consequences story.
  • Have an hour: Visit all the locations and answer the riddles, maybe listen to the story as you walk between them, but don't worry if need to miss one or two.
  • Only have 30 mins: Enjoy finding a couple of the locations and maybe answer a riddle or play the consequences game when you get home.
