CPD in your school

Teachers taking part in an RSC workshop

Wherever you are in the UK, we can bring our Teacher Professional Development work to you. We can run a course at a venue of your choice for up to 25 staff. Or you may prefer to bring a group to Stratford-upon-Avon where we will provide the venue and arrange the day for you.

A CPD day is an ideal way to build the skills of a whole staff or can be a powerful focus for bringing specialist teachers together across a local area. Our experience shows that they are of particular interest to English, Drama and Primary Teachers

How we work with you

We will create and run a bespoke day or a series of days for you, depending on what you are aiming to achieve. Your outreach course will be tailored to the specific needs of the group you bring together.
All we need to know is:

  • The Shakespeare text(s) you'd like to explore
  • The experience of the participants
  • The age of children they teach

We can create a course for teachers with little or with considerable experience of teaching Shakespeare and for teachers working in different phases of education, from early years to sixth-form.

Teachers tell us that all of the active teaching strategies we offer can be successfully applied to Shakespeare and other complex texts used in English and Literacy.

In addition to supporting active approaches to teaching Shakespeare in the classroom we can also offer outreach days that build teachers' skills in creating performance with young people.

Cost
Full day £875 (£850 for RSC Education members)
A full day typically runs from 9.30am - 3.30pm and includes all our expenses.
This can work out as little as £35 per person.
Each participant will receive a set of high quality resources featuring all the strategies and texts used during the day to support their planning and teaching.

How to find out more and make a booking
Please phone Sarah-Katy Davies on 01789 272548 who will talk with you about your aims for an outreach and how we can best support them. You can also contact Sarah-Katy via email: education@rsc.org.uk

NB: We are unable to run workshops for students on an outreach basis.
See Workshops and events for students for more information.

KS3 teacher, Hull

'A fantastic opportunity! I feel much more confident with trying some new initiatives in the class. A really great way of remembering that Shakespeare wrote plays.'
KS2 teacher, Oxon

'I will be taking this back to a staff meeting and trying out so many of the activities with fellow colleagues because I have been truly inspired today and will share this with others!'
