Whose Culture? was a symposium marking 10 years of the Learning and Performance Network (LPN), our flagship partnership programme with schools and theatres nationally.

The event took place on 5 July 2016 in Stratford-upon-Avon, and shared learning from across the 10 year programme about: forming and sustaining partnerships; changing classroom practice; impacting on the experiences of children and young people and the wider community. It included:

  • Keynote speeches from Darren Henley, CEO of Arts Council England, and Erica Whyman, RSC Deputy Artistic Director
  • A 10 minute verbatim theatre piece telling the remarkable 10 year story of the LPN
  • Presentations from teachers, young people, schools and theatres about their LPN work and its impact from 2006 to the present day
  • Provocations about the future of partnerships between schools and the cultural sector
  • The Dream; performances by children and young people from LPN schools in Blackpool, Bradford, Canterbury, Leicester, Stoke-on-Trent, and Uxbridge
  • ‘In conversation’ session with the Secretary of State for Education, Nicky Morgan
