FAQ - Planning an Education visit

• Do you do discounted tickets for schools?

  UK state schools & colleges (aged 18 and under) £10
  UK independent schools £16.50
  UK colleges & universities (aged 19 & over) £18

  Monday to Thursday performances for groups of 10+ students. Tickets are subject to availability and one free adult place is provided (and required) for every ten students. The teachers’ free tickets will be placed amongst groups of students and must be used by accompanying adults only.

  These discounts are only available to UK schools during Warwickshire term time. To book, call our Learning Ticket Hotline on 01789 331259 (Monday to Friday, midday - 6pm). Discounts don't apply to Premium seats.

  Overseas schools, colleges and universities can take advantage of our regular group rates. For more information, please contact the Box Office.

• Activities in the theatre auditoriums

  The following information about conduct in the theatres may be useful to you and your students if you are preparing to see a production with us:

  • Performances in our theatres will start at the stated time and it is best to arrive at least 20 minutes early.
  • There are no phones or photography permitted during the performance.
  • There is limited space for bags in the auditorium so you may wish to leave these on the coach if possible. All bags will be subject to searches at the cloakroom, on entry to the auditorium and before embarking on a theatre tour so please allow plenty of time. 
  • Only cold drinks in plastic bottles/cups are permitted in the auditorium.
  • Once the performance has started you should remain seated in the auditorium unless there is an emergency. Please avoid note-taking during the performance as it is distracting to the actors.
  • Our auditoriums are built with a ‘thrust stage’ which means that, even in the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, no one is ever more than 15 metres from the stage. This means that it is important that there is no talking or whispering during a performance, as it can distract the actors and other audience members.

• Adult/student ratios and supervision

  We understand that organising school trips can sometimes be difficult and we have endeavoured to make sure that planning your trip is as easy as possible. We already have a child protection policy, public liability insurance and risk assessments for all of our activities and spaces.

  As part of these risk assessments we are reliant on schools providing the following:

  • Adult supervision (at a ratio of 1 adult to 10 students), with a minimum of 2 adults to be with the group at all times
  • Teachers or accompanying adults are responsible for the care of group members and their behaviour, and groups should be accompanied at all times.
  • Medical or First Aid provision for all students, including the means to administer specialised care for those with specific medical needs
