Tales for Winter online

• Can I watch online events 'on demand' as well as live?

  All bookers for our Tales For Winter online events will have access to the live stream broadcast of the performance. Shortly after this finishes, you will also be able to watch again for up to seven days after the event.
  
  If you have booked for the Talking Shakespeare series, you will be able to access a recording of the event via your Members' or Patrons' Room on our website. Please note it may take a few weeks before we are able to upload these recordings whilst they are being Captioned.

• When will I receive a link to watch online events that I have booked for?

  If you have booked for an online event we'll send the link to watch to the email address you used when you placed your order. If you haven’t received the link two hours before the performance, first check your Junk folders, then contact us at tickets@rsc.org.uk
  
  On the day of the event you will also be able to access the link to watch by logging in to your online account, My RSC where you can view your order.

  
  

• What devices can I use to watch online events?

  For the best viewing experience we recommend using a laptop or computer but you could also watch using a mobile or tablet device. It’s worth remembering that the download speed you have from your internet service provider, overall internet speed and Wi-Fi performance can affect your experience.
  
  Our Tales For Winter events will be broadcast on Vimeo. You can access Vimeo through selected Smart TV platforms. Visit the Vimeo website to find out more about which apps and devices are supported and network and browser requirements.
  
  Our Patron events and Talking Shakespeare series will take place on Zoom.

• How many devices can we use to watch online events with a single ticket booking?

  For all of our online events you only need to book once per household – you and your household can watch on as many devices as you wish. However we would ask that you consider how many members of your household might want to watch together and, if you are able to, add a donation to your purchase to support the RSC in this difficult time. 

• How do I watch your online performances?

  We have created a step by step guide of how you can enjoy our online performances at home on your TV, laptop or other device, with troubleshooting tips. See our troubleshooting guide.

• Can I pause or rewind online events?

  Watching our Tales For Winter events live online is like watching a theatre performance in person, so you won’t be able to rewind the live stream broadcast if you arrive late. If you choose to pause, when playing is resumed you will automatically skip ahead to the current moment in the performance (rather than from the point you paused).  
   
  Similarly, if you’re watching one of our events taking place on Zoom (Patron events and Talking Shakespeare), you can’t rewind or pause during the live event.  
   
  After the live event has finished (once the recording has been processed) you will be able to catch up and watch the performance again with the options to pause and rewind.  

• Can I use a gift voucher or credit from my RSC account when booking an online event?

  All of our online events can be booked using a voucher, either through our website or via our Box Office phone line. If you would like to redeem credit on your RSC account, please book by calling Box Office on 01789 331111 (available Monday - Friday, 12noon - 6pm).

• Can I watch online events from outside the UK?

  Our online events can be watched from outside the UK but please note the live stream broadcast time is GMT.
  
  If you’ve booked for one of our Tales For Winter events but are unable to watch live, you'll be able to watch the recorded performance for up to seven days after the event by using the same link.
  
  If you book for our Talking Shakespeare series, you will be able to access a recording of the event via your Members' or Patrons' Room on our website. Please note it may take a few weeks before we are able to upload these recordings whilst they are being captioned.

• When will booking for online events close?

  Booking for all of our Tales For Winter online events will close at the time the event is scheduled to start.

• Are any discounts available for Subscribers, Members or Patrons booking for Tales For Winter events?

  Although there are no ticket discounts available for Subscribers, Members or Patrons, our supporters will be able to make the most of an exclusive Priority Booking period ahead of the public on-sale on 20 November. Visit our Priority Booking area for more information about when booking opens and how you can join the RSC to access the Priority Booking period. Our supporters also have exclusive access to our Talking Shakespeare series of events.

• Who can I contact during online events if I'm having technical difficulties?​

  We are unlikely to be able to give individual technical support during the broadcast of our online events so please test the link we send you before the start time. The ‘virtual doors’ to our Tales For Winter online events will open 30 minutes before the performance to give you time to get everything up and running. 
   
  If you experience any technical issues you can report these by emailing tickets@rsc.org.uk Please note that we may not be able to reply to you immediately and would advise following our troubleshooting guide for further information and streaming tips.

  All our online events will be monitored by staff who will notify bookers using the live chat tool of any general technical issues that we are aware of. 

• Will any of the Tales For Winter events be Captioned or BSL interpreted?

  Our Festive Tales performance streamed online on Saturday 19 December will be BSL interpreted. We will be adding captions to our live recordings as quickly as possible after the performance and making these available within the seven day window to watch again.
