HRH The Prince of Wales visit
HRH The Prince of Wales, the RSC's President, visited the Royal Shakespeare Theatre on Monday 2 June to meet students, teachers and theatre representatives from across England, all of whom are members of the RSC's Learning and Performance Network. The Network stretches across the country, and involves over 400,000 students and their teachers working with the RSC and their regional theatre to create the best experience of Shakespeare in the classroom and in performance for young people.
Students visited Stratford from 12 areas, including Middlesbrough in the North East and Cornwall in the South West. They talked briefly about a Shakespeare play they have been working on, before speaking their favourite line from that play. HRH also enjoyed a short extract from Henry IV Part I performed by pupils from local Stratford schools.
In the evening, and following a pre-show reception to meet key RSC supporters, HRH watched a performance of the RSC's current production of Henry IV Part I, after which he went backstage to meet members of the acting company and technical teams.
