Pippa Nixon and Alex Waldmann take the principal roles of Rosalind and Orlando in Shakespeare's pastoral comedy, with music by Laura Marling.
Following their collaboration on King John in 2012, Maria Aberg will direct Pippa and Alex in a new production of As You Like It.
Music for the production is composed Mercury Music Prize nominees Laura Marling, who won the Best Female Solo Artist at the 2011 Brit Awards.
As well as King John, Maria's RSC credits include: The Gods Weep, Days of Significance, The Winter's Tale (Associate Director), Pericles (Associate Director) and The Crucible (Assistant Director).
Pippa played The Bastard in King John and Lady Anne in Richard III in 2012. Other RSC credits include: A Midsummer Night's Dream, Cardenio, The City Madam, Much Ado about Nothing, Henry V (Shakespeare in a Suitcase, RSC New York), Days of Significance.
Alex made his RSC debut last year playing the title role in King John, Catesby in Richard III and Ixtlixóchitl/Nezahualcoyotl in A Soldier in Every Son.
Making a welcome return to the RSC are Karen Archer (Le Beau); Cliff Burnett (Duke Senior); David Fielder (Adam); Michael Grady-Hall (Silvius); Mark Holgate (Charles the Wrestler/William); Joanna Horton (Celia); Natalie Klamar (Phoebe); Luke Norris (Oliver); Oliver Ryan (Jacques); John Stahl (Duke Frederick) and Nicolas Tennant (Touchstone).
The cast also includes Kiza Deen (Hisperia); Daniel Easton (Dennis); Dave Fishley (Sir Oliver Martext); Rosie Hilal (Audrey); Chris Jared (Jacques de Boys); Robin Soans (Corin) and Samuel Taylor (First Forest Lord).
As You Like It will play in the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, Stratford-upon-Avon from 12 April – 28 September 2013.
