Royal Shakespeare Company's Rocket lands outside the theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon this summer
The RSC has found a novel way to tempt visitors to its doors by obtaining a 'Retro Rocket' trailer to serve snacks and drinks to visitors during the summer months.
The aluminium 1950s style 'Rocket' will be parked outside the front of the Royal Shakespeare Theatre until October and will be open daily from 11am in the morning until 7pm.
On sale will be fruit juices and fruit lollies from Benson's of Gloucestershire, along with ice cream from Hampshire based Jude's Ice Creams, as well as a selection of snacks and hot and cold soft drinks.
The Rocket has been handbuilt by family-owned business Retro Rocket in their workshops in Stourport-on-Severn, Worcestershire, where each vehicle is constructed from scratch to customers' specification.
Peter Carrick, MD of Retro Rocket, said “We are delighted to be associated with the world-famous Royal Shakespeare Company, and think that our striking new Rocket will be the perfect complement to their stunningly-transformed riverside Theatre”.
Sara Aspley, RSC Commercial Director said; “Our Retro Rocket is a re-creation of the iconic vintage American aluminium trailer, but it meets the needs of the 21st century. It will be a beautiful addition to the cafe culture that's beginning to spring up along waterside in Stratford, with pubs and restaurants that have outside seating and food offers. We think it will create a beautiful and dramatic point of interest on the paved area between the Bancroft Gardens and the theatre to tempt visitors along Waterside and along the River Avon.”.
