The Royal Shakespeare Company presents Swan Song, an evening of music and song at 7pm on Sunday 10 March in the Swan Theatre, Stratford-upon-Avon.

Beginning with the world premiere of a new work, Anya, the evening will also celebrate music from productions directed by Michael Boyd, both during his ten year tenure as RSC Artistic Director and before he took up the role.

With an eclectic mix of instrumental pieces and songs, Swan Song will see RSC musicians and actor Forbes Masson performing extracts from some of Michael Boyd's best loved productions, including Much Ado About Nothing, The Histories and Boris Godunov.

Anya is a new RSC commission by composer Jonathan Girling and writer Paul Wignall. Based on Russian folk tales such as Baba Yaga and Father Frost, it is the story of a little girl who has to fight for survival against all the odds. This world premiere will be performed by RSC actors and musicians, together with local youth choir, Junior St James Singers @ the Croft.

John Woolf, RSC Head of Music, said: 'We commission new scores for all of our theatre productions, and our musicians play live at each performance. It's great that music from some of Michael's shows is getting another much-deserved airing. Coupled with Anya, a fantastic new piece, Swan Song is set to be an evening no music lover can afford to miss.'
