The Royal Shakespeare Company is offering amateur and semi-professional theatre groups the opportunity to put on a play by Shakespeare or his contemporaries at The Dell, the Company's open air performance space in Stratford-upon-Avon, on Saturdays and Sundays throughout summer 2013.

Now in its eighth year, The Dell provides a great platform for these groups to work with the RSC and to present their work to a large audience. Last summer's season of open air theatre at The Dell, which was part of the World Shakespeare Festival, saw record breaking attendances. Over 6,500 people watched 40 performances by 32 theatre companies, schools, universities and community groups.

The Dell Co-ordinator Nicola Salmon said:

'The Dell offers amateur and semi-professional theatre companies the chance to perform at and work with the RSC.

'In addition to providing a stage we also hope to offer different opportunities for companies to promote their performances and to supply skills training with our professional artists.

'Last year's season in The Dell was a huge success, and included companies from Liverpool to Texas, including a new adaptation of Romeo and Juliet, titled 'Sweet Division' and a production of Much Ado About Nothing brought up to date as the troops came back from Afghanistan. I hope we'll be able to reflect this diversity again in 2013.'

Performance times at The Dell are available on Saturdays and Sundays from 8 June to 1 September 2013. There are two performance slots a day, although the exact time of each performance may vary.

Anyone interested in performing at The Dell will need to submit an application from which can be downloaded from the RSC's website.: http://www.rsc.org.uk/downloads/The-Dell-2013-application-form.pdf or should contact Nicola Salmon on thedell@rsc.org.uk

The closing date for receipt of completed applications is Monday 25 March 2013.
